Position Summary


Provides culturally responsive services to survivors of sexual violence utilizing a trauma-informed, empowerment model. Develops, coordinates, and executes outreach to survivors in communities that have been marginalized, as well as to educate external organizations on sexual violence, how to screen for sexual violence, and to coordinate services with appropriate providers. Ensures survivors from marginalized communities receive timely access to services to address a variety of needs to assist in the healing process and reduce barriers to services.

Required Education, Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work preferred; LSW preferred
  • Experience working with diverse populations required
  • Victim advocacy training and/or experience preferred
  • Maintain valid Ohio driver’s license and ability to meet agency requirements for driving insurability.
  • Must be able to meet agency requirements for criminal background check (Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations and Federal Bureau of Investigations).

Role and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, develop and execute education, outreach, and marketing plans to survivors of sexual violence in communities that have been marginalized in Summit and Medina Counties.
  • Design and distribute marketing material specialized for survivors in communities that have been marginalized
  • Creates and facilitates trainings for community partners and agency staff on topics related to working with survivors of diverse backgrounds, cultural responsiveness, and implementing culturally specific skills and services
  • Identify, develop and maintain relationships with community agencies who would benefit from collaboration and cross-referrals and to increase client base within communities that have been marginalized.
  • Create culturally relevant and specialized presentations of agency services and education on sexual violence, as well as its intersections with intimate partner violence and human trafficking.
  • Facilitates support groups and provides crisis intervention for survivors of sexual violence, intimate partner violence and human trafficking.
  • Utilizes a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach to identify needs, create a service goal plan to address needs, promote self-sufficiency, and facilitate stability
  • Refers and connects survivors and their families to appropriate services within the agency or other community agencies such as legal services, counseling, safe housing, and other resources to address basic needs
  • Coordinates with other H&H team members for service coordination
  • Maintains client records through case notes, attendance, and recording of events and progress
  • May travel to and coordinate with other organizations throughout the community
  • Represents the mission and philosophy of the H&H at all times
  • Maintains confidentiality of information learned through one’s employment at the H&H
  • Maintain anonymous/confidential record-keeping for all survivors and co-survivor contacts
  • Work closely with allied professionals and all victim advocacy agencies to ensure collaboration and cross training
  • Adheres to Service Excellence standards at all times
  • Represent the H&H in community activities, coalitions and taskforce groups as assigned by supervisor
  • Complies with agency and program policies and procedures, federal and state requirements, CARF standards and educational/ certification/ registry requirements
  • Assist direct service team with evaluation of services

  • Work environment: This position will be in a facility with victims of domestic violence or sexual assault. In addition to interaction with the survivors, the employee may have interactions with families of these individuals, the assailants and law enforcement.

  • 40 hours per week; variance depending on client needs and job responsibilities; some flexibility
  • Some nights and weekends
  • This position requires travel within the community
