The Training Counselor is a Direct Support Professional at our Life Long Learning Center Adult day programs. This position is a DSP who works with individuals with Developmental Disabilities by assisting with daily living and other activities. This position is responsible for the implementation of the People Centered Plan; to provide supervision for subcontract work, and to provide instruction in Daily Living Skills, Leisure Time Activities; Academic and Pre-academic Skills, Economic Skills, Safety Skills, Hygiene Skills, Job Skills, Behavioral Development and Health and Wellness. This will be a full time, benefit eligible position 8:00am-3:00pm (35 hours/week).
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED
- DSP certification is required.
- 1 yr experience with Adults with Developmental Disabilities
- Current Valid Driver’s License, ability to be insured under Oak-Leyden Ins.
- 21 yrs of age or older for insurance purposes
- Ability to pass drug test/physical, & background and required tests.
- Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position including having the ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Ability to walk, run, climb stairs, and be able to safely ambulate throughout the entire house.
