The Bridges Academy in West Islip, New York is seeking a full time school counselor for the 2025-2026 school year.

Responsibilities include:

- Development of school wide counseling program including Middle School Advisory
- Provide counseling services to students in individual or group settings
- Assess students' needs and develop appropriate counseling plans
- Educate students on various topics such as academic success, career planning, and personal development
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to support student success
- Conduct classroom presentations on topics related to mental health and well-being
- Assist with crisis intervention and provide referrals to outside resources when necessary
- Advocate for students' needs and rights within the school system
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records

Experience:
- Experience working with students in an educational setting
- Knowledge of child protective services and child welfare systems
- Familiarity with special education programs and accommodations
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations
- Understanding of cultural diversity counseling principles
- Background in mental health counseling or related field
