Position Description:
Winston-Dillard School District is accepting applicants for a full-time Child Development Specialist at Brockway Elementary School in Winston, Oregon for the 2025-26 school year. Candidate must provide supplemental instruction to students in core content/skill areas of identified school need to overcome learning barriers that will contribute to their development as curious, caring, and unstoppable learners. Candidate must also possess or be able to obtain full Oregon licensure with grade level endorsement and must be Highly Qualified.
About the Area and Community:
The City of Winston is located in the heart of beautiful Douglas County, Oregon. The community consists of a population around 7,500 people with the school district serving around 1,300 students living in Winston, Dillard, Tenmile, and Lookingglass areas. The Winston-Dillard community is dotted with vineyards, breweries, farms and is in the middle of some of the greatest hunting, fishing, and outdoor recreation areas in Western Oregon. We are located within two hours of the Pacific Ocean to the West and Crater Lake to the East and we are home to the Wildlife Safari!

General Responsibilities:
1. Contributes to student academic, social, emotional, behavioral, and ethical growth of all students with specific oversight for minor discipline
2. Develops and presents weekly social-emotional guidance lessons to meet the needs of the students
3. Assists students with conflict resolution
4. Communicates and interacts with staff, parents, and the community as appropriate to the needs of the students
5. Documents counseling sessions using a Google template (easily accessible by those the document is shared with) per the request of the campus principal for internal use by administration and teachers
6. Tracks behavior data by inputing in SUIS weekly
7. Builds positive relationships with students, families, and teachers to help each student have a successful school year
8. Facilitates and/or attends SST, 504, IEP and parent/teacher conferences as requested by the campus administrator
9. Keeps the campus administrator apprised of any pertinent information regarding the students
10. Attends CDS/counselor professional development trainings and/or meetings as directed by the campus administrator
12. Advocates for the success of each student;
13. Serves as a resource for students, school personnel, and parents;
14. Performs other duties as assigned by the campus administrator.
Qualifications:
1. Preferred Bachelors degree in Education, Social Science, Child Development or related Field
2. Preferred current Oregon Teaching License
4. Knowledge of child growth and development with the ability to genuinely connect with Elementary students using PBIS strategies
5. The ability to work cohesively and collaboratively with campus staff and
administration to help meet the needs of the students
6. Comfortable with using technology
7. The ability to train students and/or provide staff development regarding behavior services prior to and during the school year as requested.
