We are currently looking for a dedicated Family Support Counselor who is eager to make a meaningful impact in the lives of children and families.

This role requires flexibility, including some weekend availability.

Role and Impact:

The Family Support Counselor plays a vital role in providing services to families through individual and family counseling. This position includes case management responsibilities such as referrals, follow-up, and advocacy. This is a direct care position serving clients in Crestview, Fort Walton Beach, and surrounding communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Offer individual, group, and family counseling to youth and families in home and community settings.
  • Provide crisis intervention support for families experiencing emergencies.
  • Assist in conducting comprehensive assessments of families in crisis.
  • Engage in case management and remain accessible on call for clients 24/7.
  • Support families in implementing their case plans through active involvement.
  • Educate and assist parents in addressing the physical, mental, and emotional needs of their children.
  • Maintain an active caseload, coordinating community services and advocating for client needs.
  • Facilitate appropriate referrals and connections for clients.
  • Communicate professionally with referral agencies and maintain teamwork.
  • Serve as an advocate for family preservation and unity.
  • Conduct follow-up monitoring and provide services for closed cases.
  • Participate in required staff meetings, supervision sessions, and inter-agency discussions.
  • Prepare and submit required progress reports and documentation promptly.
  • Adhere to professional standards and ethics in all interactions.
  • Represent agency services in the community by establishing connections with schools and organizations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

  • Willingness and ability to work extended hours and adjust schedule as necessary.
  • Valid state driver's license and proof of auto insurance are required.

Education:

A master's degree in a human services field is required.

Experience:

Two or more years of experience in adolescent and family counseling, including group facilitation and assessments for troubled youth and families.

Skills:

Strong written and verbal communication, time management, and organizational skills are essential. Ability to thrive in a team environment and to serve a diverse client population is crucial. Dependability, discretion, and sound judgment are mandatory. Bilingual skills in English/Spanish or English/Haitian Creole are preferred.

Additional Requirements:

Cultural sensitivity towards the needs of our service population is essential.

  • Reports to the Clinical Director.
  • Collaborates effectively with co-workers, administrators, and school personnel.
  • Delivers innovative counseling services and makes accurate referrals.
  • Maintains precise case records.
  • Adheres to LSF policies and procedures.
