Description:
Job Purpose: The Purchasing Agent will be responsible for ordering and following up on purchase orders while following instructions of the Purchasing Manager.
Essential Functions include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Research, compare and purchase materials, hardware and supplies for production, maintenance, and customer purchases.
- Monitor and track inventory levels and determine purchase needs.
- Prepare and process purchase orders.
- Ensures purchasing documents, vendor evaluations, and material tracking is completed accurately and timely.
- Works to learn and understand company made products and services in order to research cost effective solutions to provide supporting materials and hardware.
- Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
- Performs additional duties as needed.
Additional Responsibilities
- Assists Department personnel as needed.

- Bachelor's degree preferred in relative field.
- Two years of previous purchasing experience in a production environment preferred/ highly recommended.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as charts, procedure manuals and job instructions with basic problem-solving skills.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to accurately read and record measurements using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools, as well as read a tape-measure.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to operate computer and computer software, to include Microsoft Office products and inventory-tracking systems.
- Ability to use department equipment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
