Position Summary
The Staff Development Manager oversees the successful development, implementation and continuous improvement of all Horizon staff development and training programs. The Staff Development Manager plans and coordinates staff training. The Staff Development Manager is responsible for ensuring that staff development and training programs for employees align with Horizon's goals, as well as federal and state regulations and applicable licensing and certification requirements. The Staff Development Manager works with all departments to assess needs and to develop and implement strategy for staff development, including administering the electronic learning management system.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, with concentration in training and staff development, or relevant degree.
- Minimum 5 years experience developing and implementing staff development training programs for employees, including overseeing and administering an electronic learning management system. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Prefer some experience developing and implementing staff development programs in a behavioral health setting.
Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Expertise in the basic principles of organizational training and professional development. Knowledge of methods for designing, administering, and evaluating training programs. Knowledge of how to lead discussions, instruct and facilitate training groups, and lead individuals and groups in the learning process. Knowledge of instructional design, adult learning principles and project/process management. Strong knowledge of learning management systems and use of technology to track, streamline and deliver services, as well as ability to generate reports from learning management systems. Strong computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite and web-based learning platforms. Strong presentation skills to include the use of visual aids, print material, and other media. Ability to effectively present in a variety of settings, including one-on-on, small and large groups, in-person, and virtually. Ability to command attention and manage group process during presentations. Ability to interpret policies, and federal and state laws and regulations. Ability to research and comprehend the state and licensure regulations in the behavioral healthcare field in Virginia relevant to training requirements. Ability to effectively communicate and convey and/or present information verbally and in writing, using multiple channels of communication. Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to relate well with others. Ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment. Ability to learn quickly. Ability to learn new skills and teach the skills to others. Ability to drive and must possess a valid Virginia driver's license. Willing and available to work modified schedules (weekends, holidays, etc.) as required
