Job Summary
The UK PATHways program is specifically designed to provide integrated care to pregnant women who need support for substance use disorders. Our goal is to offer an effective, multidisciplinary team that focuses on each patient in a non-judgmental and non-stigmatizing environment. Under the direction of the UK PATHways Program Director, the Peer Prevention Specialist will mentor perinatal women enrolled in prenatal clinics and receiving substance abuse treatment. The specialist should demonstrate an understanding of the experiences and feelings of their peers and share their own recovery stories to inspire hope, courage, and strength. This role requires travel to UK clinics and hospitals, as well as communication with patients via phone and multimedia. Clinical documentation is also necessary. Additionally, the Peer Prevention Specialist will be responsible for collecting and recording data for research projects and state-sponsored grants. Eligibility for certification as a Peer Support Specialist in Kentucky is required. One year’s experience as a Peer Support Specialist is preferred.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
  • Eligible to be certified as Peer Support Specialist in the state of Kentucky.
  • EPIC, REDcap, MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Prefer a minimum of 1 year experience as a peer support specialist.
  • Prefer direct experience, either paid or unpaid, with navigating substance use disorders and the journey to recovery.
