About Job

Board-certified or board-eligible Psychiatrists are needed to provide comprehensive psychiatric care at a medical center in Memphis, Tennessee. This includes inpatient, outpatient, and specialty mental health services. Providers will deliver high-quality, patient-centered psychiatric care in accordance with American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) standards and federal healthcare guidelines.Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver psychiatric services in:
  • Inpatient Psychiatry: Mon–Fri, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
  • General Mental Health Clinics: Mon–Fri, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
  • Specialty Clinics: PRRC, MHICM, PTSD, and Residential Programs, Mon–Fri, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
  • Diagnose and manage mental health disorders including admissions, treatment planning, and discharge.
  • Participate in on-call coverage after hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Collaborate in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Attend staff meetings, peer reviews, performance improvement initiatives, and patient safety events.
  • Accurately document care in the VA’s electronic medical record system (CPRS/VistA).
Requirements
  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Active, unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. state or territory.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry by ABPN.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
  • Active DEA license and National Provider Identifier (NPI).
  • Completion of all VA-mandated trainings (e.g., HIPAA, patient safety).
  • Eligible for VA credentialing and privileging.
  • Strong English communication skills (written and verbal).
Preferred Experience
  • Experience with VA systems and electronic documentation (CPRS/VistA).
  • Prior work in academic or teaching hospitals.
  • Familiarity with emergency psychiatry, crisis response, and intensive case management.
