Vermont Hills Family Life Center (VHFLC) is seeking a Preschool Lead & Floating Teacher to join our mission-driven team at St. Andrew's ECE Center. This role supports the healthy development of young children by planning and implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum in a nurturing, safe, and inclusive environment.

As the Preschool Lead Teacher, you will create meaningful learning experiences to foster children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth while maintaining strong partnerships with families and upholding VHFLC’s commitment to equity, respect, and high-quality care.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement a play-based, developmentally appropriate curriculum aligned with Oregon’s Early Learning and VHFLC’s philosophy.
  • Supervise and engage preschool-aged children in activities that promote exploration, discovery, creativity, and problem-solving.
  • Establish and maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming classroom environment that supports children’s autonomy and cooperation.
  • Foster positive relationships with children and families, greeting each child and caregiver warmly and professionally each day.
  • Utilize positive guidance techniques consistent with VHFLC’s policies to promote self-regulation and conflict resolution.
  • Ensure health and safety practices are followed, including meal/snack routines, toileting, and maintaining a clean classroom.
  • Complete required documentation, including incident reports, medication logs, and developmental observations.
  • Participate in family conferences and ongoing communication with parents to support each child’s growth and family’s goals.
  • Work collaboratively with the ECE Site Director and teaching team to reflect on practices and adapt the learning environment to meet the needs of the children.

Why Join VHFLC?

  • A collaborative, supportive team environment with a child-centered, equity-focused mission.
  • Paid training and continuing education incentives.
  • Opportunities for professional growth within the organization.
  • The chance to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children and families in our community.
