Comprehensive Behavioral Health Center, a company of Porch Light Health is seeking a Full Time Peer Support Specialist. This position is an opportunity to utilize and leverage lived experience as a tool to help those suffering from substance use disorders. This is a dynamic role in which the Peer Support Specialist (PSS) will provide outreach to the community and direct contact to people both individually and in groups. The ideal candidate must have their Peer Support Certification (COPA).

The hours for this position are Monday-Friday from 6am - 2pm. This role is supported by the Chief Clinical Officer, Medical Team, and Outreach Team. The PSS will participate in scheduled weekly supervision to ensure they have support.

The Peer specialist will be expected to work with patients, potential patients, and community partners to engage patients in treatment in a non-judgmental way. They will need to participate with a team mentality and perform duties as needed by the clinics. Peer specialists will need to work together with other staff and local resources to meet the needs of patients seeking medication assisted treatment and other recovery resources.

Responsibilities And Duties

  • Serve the clinic and patient needs both on site at the clinic and in the community
  • Provide a listening ear to patients in a non-judgmental way
  • Coordinate services with both internal and external sources
  • Advocate for patients
  • Documentation of all interactions with patients
  • Establish and maintain relationships with community agencies
  • Communicate both orally and in written with other professionals
  • Work as a team member
  • Manage relationships with community organizations
  • Basic record keeping
  • Exemplary customer service
  • Maintain confidentiality

Qualifications And Skills

  • Motivation to support others in the recovery process and accept all pathways to recovery
  • Sensitivity to individual needs and show respect for a person’s independence and ability
  • Valid Colorado Driver’s License and good driving record
  • Experience with or utilization of Medications for Addiction Treatment
  • Currently hold Certified Peer Specialist (COPA)
  • Basic computer skills and software
  • Workplace policies and professionalism
  • Effective de-escalation techniques
  • Motivational Interviewing
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Personal Experience with Substance Use Disorder
  • 2 years free of substances
