The Alper JCC Miami is currently seeking enthusiastic and dedicated After Care Counselors to join our team. In this role, you will be instrumental in creating a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for our students during after-school hours.
Position: After Care Counselor.
Location: 11155 SW 112 Avenue, Miami, FL 33176.
Hours: Monday - Friday, 1:30 - 5:30 PM or 2:00 - 6:00 PM.
Start Date: August 15, 2024.
What You’ll Do:
  • Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of students during after-school hours.
  • Lead fun and age-appropriate activities, games, and crafts that keep students active and engaged.
  • Create a positive, inclusive atmosphere where students feel supported and inspired.
  • Assist with homework and provide academic support as needed.
  • Communicate with parents to share updates and address any concerns.
  • Collaborate with fellow team members to deliver a high-quality after-school program.

Who You Are:
  • You have experience working with children in a school, camp, or daycare setting (preferred).
  • You bring positive energy, patience, and a passion for helping children thrive.
  • You’re a great communicator and team player.
  • You’re creative, dependable, and excited to lead engaging activities.
  • First Aid/CPR certification is a plus.
  • Some college coursework in education, child development, or related fields is a bonus.

We especially want to hear from you if you have a passion or talent in areas such as drama, visual arts, STEM, dance, cheer, or other creative disciplines! We love counselors who bring their own spark and interests to share with the children.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to bend, sit, squat, and walk across campus.
  • Comfortable spending time outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Able to sit for extended periods and use a computer.
  • Lift 20 lbs regularly, and up to 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Comfortable with setting up and breaking down activity spaces, including moving chairs and tables.
