Job Title: School Social Worker

Location: Norfolk & Virginia Beach, VA Area

Job Type: Full-Time 37.50 Hours weekly (On-Site, School-Based)

Pay: Competitive (Based on experience and licensure)


Position Overview:

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced School Social Worker to join our team in the Norfolk & Virginia Beach, VA area. The ideal candidate will support students’ social, emotional, and behavioral needs, helping to remove barriers to learning and ensuring a safe, supportive school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and group counseling to students dealing with social, emotional, or behavioral challenges
  • Conduct assessments and create intervention plans to support student success
  • Collaborate with school staff, parents, and community agencies to coordinate services
  • Respond to crisis situations and help develop safety and support plans
  • Participate in IEP and 504 plan meetings as needed
  • Maintain accurate documentation and comply with all legal and ethical standards

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program
  • Current Virginia licensure (LCSW, LMSW, or eligibility for licensure)
  • Experience working in a school setting strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of child development, mental health, and trauma-informed practices
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
