  • Friday - 12:00am - 8:00am - (overnight)
  • Saturday - 8:00am - 4:00pm & 12:00am - 8:00am (Double shift with an overnight shift)
  • Sunday - 8:00am - 4:00pm

Summary/Objective

The Residential Aide is responsible for observing, monitoring, documenting and communicating any admission or other concerns pertaining to a client to the supervisor of the program. Has a foundation of Post-Acute Withdrawal Symptoms (PAWS) and behaviors. Has an in-depth knowledge of 12 Core Function of addiction, 12 Steps of recovery, and the "Big Book" and / or "Basic Text" which are both utilized within the communities of recovery. Can work without close supervision, complete shift documentation and closely observe client's self-medication. Understands HIPAA guidelines, ethical boundary limits and importance to role model appropriate behaviors with positive encouragement.

Essential Functions -

1. Assumes responsibility for monitoring all clients throughout their assigned shift.

2. Able to observe, identify, document and inform others if physical, cognitive and behavioral changes are a concern.

3. Ensures the daily program scheduled is followed.

4. Is responsible for clients having access to their medications per written medication orders and time for self-medication. Observes and documents all clients taking and/or refusing prescribed medications.

5. Provides accurate information during shift change.

6. Arrives on time for all client scheduled appointments when transporting.

7. Understands the field of addiction, mental health and recovery.

8. Can perform the position without close supervision and is open to feedback and direction. Has the ability to work as a team member and supports other employees as needed to complete their job responsibilities on the shift.

9. Able to communicate professionally with all clients and coworkers.

10. Keeps all program staff members informed of all client’s current challenges or behavioral issues.

11. Is able to quickly adapt to changes in schedules, routines and work assignments.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in a residential program setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear and write.

This position is active and requires standing and walking for the duration of the workday.

This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products & supplies, up to 50lbs.

Travel

No travel is required outside of a rare emergency client appointment.

Required Education and Experience

1. Minimum of a high school diploma.

2. Prior professional or personal experience with addition, treatment engagement and sobriety.

3. Minimum one (1) year of sobriety and/or treatment engagement with an understanding in and ability to abide by:

a). Ability to abide by the American Counseling Association (ACA) code of ethics and follow the policy and procedures of the agency.

b). Open to attaining an understanding of ASAM criteria guidelines and DSM-V-TR diagnosing.

c). Understands the Stages of Change

d). Able to maintain documentation and shift report logs.

e). Is open to attending Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and/or Narcotics Anonymous (NA) open/closed meetings throughout employment. Attain knowledge of the 12 Step, Traditions and Big Book / Basic Text of AA/NA.
