About Job

Are you passionate about using your lived experience to support others in their recovery journey? As a Certified Peer Support Specialist, you will provide emotional support, crisis intervention, and resource navigation to individuals experiencing mental health crises. This role is integral in assisting Crisis Stabilization Facility clients by helping them connect with essential services and develop strategies for long-term stability.

In this dynamic position, you will conduct risk and needs assessments, assist in developing safety plans, and offer peer-based guidance to individuals in distress. You will also help facilitate referrals to mental health providers, housing resources, primary care, and substance use treatment, ensuring individuals successfully access and engage with these services. Additionally, you will provide transportation support as needed and participate in follow-up care to reinforce ongoing recovery efforts. Working collaboratively with 988 crisis teams, mental health professionals, and community partners, you will play a key role in improving crisis response and support services.

We are excited to announce that WMMHC and AWARE Inc. are unifying to create a stronger agency that will provide the highest quality of support for the individuals, children, families, and communities we all serve. As we move through this transition, new employees may begin their employment with WMMHC and later transition to AWARE, or they may be hired directly by AWARE, depending on their start date. Together, we are committed to hiring outstanding individuals and offering a comprehensive benefits package that includes generous paid time off, health insurance, a retirement plan with company match, and so much more!

This position requires strong communication skills, empathy, and a commitment to ethical peer support. If you are looking for a meaningful role that allows you to make a difference and support others in their own recovery journey, we encourage you to apply!

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Certified Behavioral Health Peer Support Specialist, or the ability to obtain certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Ability to pass a background check upon offer of employment.
  • Valid MT Driver’s license and a good driving record.
