Who We Are
Mental Health Support Services (MHSS) is the provider of mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorder services for children and adults in Chesterfield County. The Day Support Program provides day-time services at a community day program center to include skills training, supervision, and leisure/recreational activities to individuals with developmental disabilities. We are seeking qualified professionals who are passionate, dedicated, and energized about supporting individuals in developing relationships and connecting with the community. Minimum Education And Experience
High school diploma or GED; some college coursework preferred; experience in giving direct behavioral and hygiene care to individuals with intellectual disabilities/developmental disabilities or related experience in a human services field; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. At least one (1) year of experience in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities in activities of community integration, personal care, and life skills training preferred; experience writing or summarizing daily documentation of individuals using an electronic health record preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Knowledge of basic proper methods and techniques used in the personal care, development and rehabilitation of individuals with intellectual disabilities. Ability to operate a personal computer and related software and other standard office equipment; to communicate effectively orally and in writing; to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers. Certifications in Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), Basic Life Support (BLS) and/or Medication Administration preferred. Qualified Developmental Disabilities Professional Certification preferred.
Additional Requirements
Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date.
Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.
This position is considered Safety Sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
