Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Substance Abuse Counselor located in Norfolk, VA. The Substance Abuse Counselor will provide individual and group counseling, develop treatment plans, conduct assessments, and offer case management services. The Counselor will also collaborate with other healthcare providers, maintain accurate records, and support clients through their recovery journey by providing therapeutic interventions and crisis management.

Qualifications

• Experience in individual and group counseling, therapeutic interventions, and assessment
• Familiarity with developing treatment plans and providing case management services
• Excellent record-keeping and documentation skills
• Ability to collaborate with healthcare providers and manage client crises effectively
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Certification or licensure as a Substance Abuse Counselor or equivalent (e.g., CSAC, LPC, LCSW, License Eligible.)
• Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred
• Experience in addiction treatment and knowledge of evidence-based practices
