Overview:
This leading, cutting-edge law firm is dedicated to serving technology and life sciences companies, from innovators to market leaders, in digital health care, artificial intelligence, social media, gaming, cybersecurity, cryptocurrency, and other exciting areas. They help companies of all sizes and at every stage, manage their collection, use, and disclosure of consumer, health, financial, employee, and other sensitive information. This firm provides comprehensive cybersecurity legal services, from governance, preparedness, and compliance to data breach response, and defense of regulatory investigations and multidistrict class-action litigation.
They are looking to expand their Chambers-ranked Privacy & Cybersecurity practice by adding an associate with experience in health care privacy and other areas of privacy law. Position available in one of their following office locations: Silicon Valley, New York City, Santa Monica, or Washington D.C.
Responsibilities:
- Advise clients as they develop products and services
- Draft and update privacy policies, procedures, notifications, forms of consent, and related documents
- Provide other general privacy counseling
Requirements:
- 4 to 7 years of legal experience in health care privacy and other areas of privacy law
- Superior academic credentials
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills
- Strong professional references
- California, DC, or New York bar membership (as appropriate) or eligibility to take the next available exam
Solid Understanding Of/Experience In:
- Health information privacy (including human subjects research), and facility with federal (HIPAA) and state (CMIA, Washington My Health My Data Act, Nevada SB 370) health care privacy laws
- Consumer privacy
- Other federal privacy laws, such as GLBA, FCRA, COPPA, and the FTC Act
- Comprehensive state privacy laws, such as the CCPA
- International privacy laws and regimes, such as the EU’s GDPR; and
- General technology and data flows
- Drafting privacy policies
- Negotiating privacy-related contracts and data processing agreements (BAAs, DPAs, DUAs)
- Providing product counseling
- Conducting privacy compliance assessments
- Drafting notifications for privacy and data security incidents
- Advising clients on adtech issues (desirable, but not essential)

- The anticipated salary range for this position is: $310,000 to $445,000/year. The actual base salary offered may depend upon a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
- A discretionary bonus for eligible employees may also be available based on performance. Additional information about employee eligibility for benefits and discretionary bonus will be made available upon request.
