Position: School Psychologist (Grades 4-5)

About the Role:
We are seeking two dedicated School Psychologists to collaborate as essential members of our interdisciplinary team. You will play a critical role in evaluating, supporting, and guiding students with special needs to help them reach their full potential. Your expertise will contribute to creating personalized educational plans and providing valuable counseling and consultation services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the evaluation, classification, and placement of students with special needs
  • Administer, score, and interpret a variety of psychological assessments to evaluate intellectual, educational, emotional, social, and behavioral development
  • Collaborate in developing and coordinating individualized education plans (IEPs) and regularly monitor student progress and placement
  • Serve as a case manager and maintain comprehensive case records as assigned
  • Provide psychological counseling to students, parents, and staff; facilitate referrals to community resources when needed
  • Assist in planning and delivering professional development and parent education programs
  • Keep the school community informed about psychological services and resources
  • Observe students in classroom and other school settings to inform assessments and recommendations
  • Consult with parents, educators, and community groups on child development, mental health, and related topics
  • Collaborate with local health and social service agencies to support student well-being
  • Fulfill all responsibilities as a member of the child study team in compliance with administrative codes, state and federal laws, and board policies
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the superintendent or director of student personnel services

Qualifications:

  • Valid New Jersey Educational Services Certificate with School Psychologist Endorsement (Master’s degree in School Psychology preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of special education laws and regulations and experience in psychological testing, evaluation, and counseling
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with students, families, and colleagues
  • Successful completion of New Jersey Criminal History Review Unit fingerprinting
  • Compliance with New Jersey State residency requirements for public employees
