Job description for Educational Social Worker is as follows:
a. Must Possess a masters degree in social work from graduate school of Social Work Program approved by the State Board of Education.
b. Full special education approval as a school social worker by the Michigan Department of Special Education- Office of Special Education.
c. Fully Licensed as a Social Worker in the State Of Michigan
d. One year experience in a school social work services in special education. knowledge of requirements of the state and federal mandates which directly affect school social work services.

f. Experience working with individuals between the ages of 12-20 years old
g. Knowledge and theoretical content in treatment modes for school social work practice.
h. Ability to work and effectively communicate with administrators staff, agencies, medical providers, students, and their families in the delivery of special education services
i Is flexible, prompt, and able to prioritize a work schedule.
j. excellent oral and written skills.

The Contractor must:
1) Follow all established Michigan Department of Special Education -
Office of Special Education laws, policies, practices and procedures
in terms of duties and responsibilities of the position.
2) Complete necessary and appropriate evaluations and reports to
support recommendations to IEP Teams relative to eligibility for
Special Education for students suspected of having an emotional
impairment.
3) Maintain appropriate and orderly student files to complete accurate
student progress reports and to determine continued eligibility of
school social work support.
4) Establish meaningful relationships with students to support service
delivery.
5) Prepare IEP’s that include Present Levels of Academic Achievement
and Functional Performance and appropriate goals and objectives for
each student on the caseload.
6) Facilitate functional behavior assessments.
7) Model and coach to support the implementation of positive behavior
support plans.
8) Participate in IEP team meetings, Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team
(MET) meetings and other meetings as required and requested by
MDHHS.
9) Work with the General Education teachers and Special Education
teachers in providing social-emotional support for students.
10) Meet all due dates with required paperwork of the position that
includes but not limited to Review of Existing Evaluation Data
(REED), IEPs, evaluation reports, etc.
11) Maintain all Master of Social Work and school of social work
certification licensing and professional development requirements.
