Sanctuary House is a dedicated non-profit organization based in Greensboro, committed to facilitating the recovery of adults with severe mental illness in Guilford County. Our mission focuses on helping individuals achieve and sustain meaningful roles in their community, promoting a supportive environment for recovery. Our Transitional Management Service (TMS) program provides person-centered support to adults transitioning from homelessness, institutional settings, or unstable housing into permanent supportive housing.

Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and motivated NC Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) to join our TMS team in either a full-time (which includes benefits) or part-time (which does not include benefits) capacity.

In this role, you will use your lived experience with mental health recovery to build trusting relationships with participants and support them in achieving their housing and recovery goals. Your unique perspective will help bridge the gap between clinical services and real-life recovery.

Responsibilities

  • Provide peer support and mentorship to adults with SPMI engaged in the TMS program
  • Assist individuals in identifying and securing permanent supportive housing
  • Support participants in developing independent living skills and accessing community resources
  • Collaborate with case managers, housing specialists, and service providers to support client goals
  • Document services and maintain compliance with Medicaid and program standards
  • Advocate for participants’ rights and promote self-determination and recovery
  • Participate in team meetings, training, and ongoing professional development

Requirements

  • Certification as a Peer Specialist is required.
  • Personal experience with mental health recovery and willingness to share your story appropriately
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid NC driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience in housing services, case management, or mental health settings is a plus
