Available Shift - Sunday-Thursday 3pm-10:30pm

PIBLY Residential Programs, Inc. is a Bronx-based, not-for-profit, voluntary organization certified by the New York State Office of Mental Health. It operates residential programs which provide rehabilitative and support services to adults suffering from mental illness. This program assists individuals in stabilizing and treating their mental illness while gaining the necessary skills to sustain sobriety.

POSITION: Counselor REPORTS TO: Program Director

REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma (GED)

Background Check Approval

PRIMARY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Interact with clients in a respectful and therapeutic manner

2. Escort clients to medical, vocational appointments, court appearances, parole, probation

appointments, family emergencies, recreational activities and other activities assigned

3. Accompany clients to the hospital during psychiatric and/or medical emergencies

4. Collect urine for toxicological analysis

5. Document client possessions upon admission

6. Monitor medication when assigned

7. Conduct census runs with frequency determined by supervisory staff

8. Record events in Communication Book

9. Provide information for incident documentation when requested

10. Contact Associate Program Director or Program Director for all emergencies and atypical situations

11. Call 911 and provide crisis intervention when any situation places a client or staff member in imminent danger (Psychiatric or medical)

12. Conduct and record fire drills

13. Encourage clients to punctually attend groups, activities, and appointments

14. Facilitate groups as assigned

15. Document all interactions with clients in communication book and progress notes

16. Participate in mandatory annual anti-sexual harassment training.

17. Monitor assigned building areas at times designated by supervisory staff.
