Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing support and guidance to individuals struggling with substance use disorders. This position involves conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and facilitating both individual and group therapy sessions. The Substance Abuse Counselor will work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care and adherence to best practices in crisis management and case management.

Duties

  • Conduct thorough assessments of clients to determine the extent of substance abuse issues and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Facilitate group therapy sessions, providing a supportive environment for clients to share experiences and learn coping strategies.
  • Provide clinical counseling to clients, addressing underlying issues related to substance abuse and promoting recovery.
  • Maintain accurate medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations, ensuring confidentiality and security of patient information.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers in a hospital setting to coordinate care and ensure holistic treatment approaches.
  • Engage in crisis management when necessary, offering immediate support to clients in distress.
  • Implement case management strategies to track client progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.

Experience

  • Masters Degree in Addictions
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in substance abuse counseling or related fields is preferred.
  • Experience working within a hospital environment is advantageous.
  • Strong background in patient care, crisis management, and clinical counseling techniques is essential.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and experience managing medical records are required.
