About Job

Pioneer Valley Chinese Immersion Charter School (PVCICS) is a successful K-12th grade regional Chinese language and culture immersion program currently serving almost 600 students from almost 30 communities most are not ethnically Chinese, nor do they enter with any Chinese language background. SPECIFIC SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS: Provides counseling support to elementary grade (K-5) students so they attain an optimum level of personal and social adjustment by developing a positive working relationship with the teaching staff and other support service personnel to identify problems, share information and design programs.Counsels students individually and in small groups. Must be able to respond to the needs of students with social, emotional and behavioral needs.Provides behavior support and programming for students.Experience working with a diverse student body.Consult with parents, teachers, administrators, and supporting agencies concerning the needs and abilities of students.Provides professional development for staff around social emotional learning standards in conjunction with the school psychologist.Ensure that all activities conform to school guidelines.Communicate effectively with all members of the school and community.Experience supporting students on 504s/IEPs, delivering direct social, emotional, behavioral services and documenting progress.Assists in the admission, record keeping, placement and discharge of students.Implements and interprets for students, faculty, and parents evaluative appraisals of students.Works collaboratively with teachers and staff to teach and implement social curriculum using Responsive Classroom, Move This World, and other related curriculum. Works collaboratively with other counselors to support K-12 age students in entire school.

Performs other duties common to all staff such as traffic/hall/lunch/recess duty on an as needed basis as requested by the administration. Qualifications Required: 1. Master's Degree in counseling, social work, education or related field 2. Massachusetts certification or appropriate license as an Adjustment Counselor 3.

Experience working with K-12 students in an educational or human services setting.Preferred Bilingual and bi-literate in Mandarin Chinese and English, but not required.To apply, please submit a cover letter and resume to info@pvcics.org .
