Job Description:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Behavior Technician (BT) to provide ABA services one-on-one to a female young adult, with a diagnosis of moderate autism in Shelton, CT. This position requires an individual who is enthusiastic about making a positive impact in the life of a person with special needs and who is committed to implementing behavior interventions effectively.
Approximate Schedule Needed:
Monday through Friday in the afternoons starting at 3:30/4:00 pm for 3 hours. Saturday morning starting after 9:00 am for 3 hours.
This case will be staffed by two team members. The total hours will be split between them, but there is flexibility in how the schedule is divided. The first hire will have the opportunity to choose their preferred days and times, and the remaining hours will be assigned to the second team member accordingly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement individualized treatment plans designed by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) .
- Support a cheerful and well-behaved 17-year-old young woman with moderate autism in developing functional life skills to support her transition into adulthood, including increasing independence, self-occupancy, and adaptive skills across home and community settings, with a focus on promoting success in the least restrictive environment.
- Collect and record data on the client's progress and behavior patterns during sessions as directed by the BCBA.
- Collaborate with the BCBA to adjust treatment plans and strategies as needed.
- Communicate effectively with parents/caregivers regarding the client’s progress and any relevant observations.
- Maintain a safe and nurturing environment for the client during sessions.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in psychology, education, or related field preferred.
- Experience working with individuals with autism.
- Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles.
- Previous experience as a Behavior Technician is required
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
