Job Summary:

As an Outpatient Counselor, you will be responsible for providing counseling services to individuals seeking mental health support on an outpatient basis. Your role involves conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and implementing therapeutic interventions to promote the well-being of clients. Our standard requires a compassionate approach while implementing evidence-based interventions. This role involves collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, effective communication with clients, and adherence to ethical standards in the field of mental health counseling.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

1. Clinical Counseling:

· Conduct individual and group counseling sessions using evidence-based therapeutic techniques to address diverse mental health concerns.

· Foster a therapeutic alliance with clients to facilitate their emotional well-being and personal growth.

2. Assessment and Treatment Planning:

· Conduct thorough initial assessments to understand clients' mental health histories, strengths, and challenges.

· Develop and review individualized treatment plans, adjusting strategies based on ongoing client assessments.

3. Crisis Intervention and Prevention:

· Provide crisis intervention services during emergency situations, ensuring client safety.

· Collaborate with clients to develop crisis prevention plans and enhance coping skills.

4. Psychoeducation and Resource Navigation:

· Educate clients on mental health issues, coping mechanisms, and available community resources.

· Assist clients in navigating external services related to housing, employment, and social support.

5. Family Involvement:

· Collaborate with clients' families when applicable, conducting family counseling sessions or providing resources to support family involvement in the therapeutic process.

6. Performance Standards:

· Maintain minimum of 70% client productivity (direct service hours)

· Maintain accurate and confidential client records, including progress notes, treatment plans, and any necessary documentation.

· Ensure compliance with legal, ethical and timing standards for record-keeping.

7. Collaboration and Communication:

· Collaborate with other mental health professionals, social workers, and healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive client care.

· Communicate effectively with clients, families, and external agencies involved in the treatment process.

8. Community Engagement:

· Actively engage with the community to raise awareness about mental health services and reduce stigma.

· Establish partnerships with community organizations to expand access to mental health resources.

9. Continuity of Care:

· Develop and implement continuity of care plans to facilitate seamless transitions for clients moving between different levels of care.

· Coordinate with inpatient facilities and other providers to ensure a cohesive care approach.

10. Professional Development:

· Engage in ongoing professional development, attending workshops, conferences, and training to stay abreast of best practices in the field.

· Pursue additional certifications or licensure as required by the organization.

Other Related Duties:

  • As a mandated reporter, follows all procedures outlined in agency policies and procedures to report to the proper agency when there is suspicion and/or confirmation that a child or adult has been a victim of abuse or neglect.
  • Actively participates in staff meetings and multi-disciplinary meetings with other team members.
  • Actively participate in team and/or individual supervision as stated in agency policy.
  • Identify and address barriers to independence and recovery.
  • Complete all required documentation.
  • Uses appropriate administrative, fiscal, physical, and technical safeguards to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and security of Three Rivers Therapy client protected health information (PHI), per regulations outlined in the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
  • Will regularly utilize all forms of communication (email, text, phone, etc.) and database practices necessary for this position and as directed by supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned by program manager and/or supervisor.

Job Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must meet the minimum qualifications listed below. These qualifications are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform this job.

· Master's or Doctoral degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or related field.

· State licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Mental Health Professional Counselor (LMHC), or Psychologist.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40.00 - $46.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
