Valor Healthcare operates over 50 VA Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) in the United States as a contractor for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Valor provides a full range of medical services to veterans through the operation of CBOCs, tailored to meet the specific needs of local VA medical centers. Our comprehensive set of services includes primary care, diagnostics, laboratory, telehealth, behavioral health, and more.
Please note: we are not federal government employees. As a government contractor, we are not subject to the mandatory workforce reductions being highlighted in the media. While the federal government may be reducing its direct workforce, the actual demand for healthcare services—especially for veterans—remains unchanged.

Work Schedule
VA Business Hours: All referenced times are in Central Time. The Mental Health Clinic
is open Monday – Friday 8:00am-4:30pm. On call hours commence at 4:30pm and
concludes at 08:00am, Monday–Friday. Weekend inpatient coverage hours are from
8:00am – 4:30pm Saturday and Sunday.
Core Responsibilities
Inpatient Care:
Medications: Shall follow all VA established medication policies and procedures.
Discharge education: Provide discharge education and follow up instructions that are coordinated with the next care setting for all emergency department patients.
Administrative: Estimated 5% of time not involved in direct patient care
Staff Meetings: Shall attend staff meetings as required by the facility Chief of Service, Chief of Staff, or designee. Contractor to communicate with COR on this requirement and report any conflicts that may interfere with compliance with this requirement. List all meetings, associated time and frequency.
Patient Safety Compliance and Reporting: Shall follow all established patient safety and infection control standards of care. Provider shall make every effort to prevent medication errors, falls, and patient injury caused by acts of commission or omission in the delivery of care. All events related to patient injury, medication errors, and other breaches of patient safety shall be documented in the medical record of those impacted and disclosed to the patient or surrogate.

Core Responsibilities
Inpatient Care:
- Operating and collaborating physician’s patients
- Seeing 1C/1D Psychiatry Service - Ward Patients.
- Admitting
- Diagnosis of patients
- Developing Treatment Plans
- Managing, including the performance of timely treatment
- Discharge/Transfer
- Including all needed medical record documentation
- Outpatient Care
- Seeing all new patient referrals with accompanying medical records
- Seeing severely mental ill patients
- Evaluation disposition E-consult
- Post-discharged follow up
- Patients must be seen by provider in 30 days
- Communication of Test Results to patients.
- Shall provide clinical psychiatry services.
- Clinical duties include direct patient care.
- Shall operate the clinic, examine patients, and interpret reports as required by the VA.
- 6 to 6.5 patient bookable hours per day.
- 6 patients for an hour each or roughly 12 patients for one half hour each; or any combination of one-hour and one-half hour appointment per day totaling 6 to 6.5 bookable patient hours per day.”

Requirements
Qualifications:
- Licensure: Shall have a current license to practice medicine in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia when services are performed onsite on VA property
- Board Certification: Shall be Board Certified /Board Eligible by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology
- Must be currently certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
- Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA): Contractor shall provide copy of current DEA certificate
