The University of Virginia seeks a dynamic and student-centered Recruitment Counselor to support outreach and engagement with our All Virginia (AVA) partner schools. This role is dedicated to building relationships with students and counselors, supporting the college application process, and enhancing the UVA visit experience for prospective students.The Enrollment division at UVA includes the Office of Undergraduate Admission, the Office of the University Registrar, Student Financial Services, and Commonwealth Partnerships. All Virginia is a program initiative of Commonwealth Partnerships. The AVA Recruitment Counselor will join engaged, innovative colleagues working collaboratively to compete for talented students from all walks of life and to care for students from their first interaction with the University through Final Exercises and beyond.Responsibilities :High School Outreach & Student Engagement
  • Conduct fall visits to every AVA partner school to meet with prospective students.
  • Send personalized follow-ups to students post-visit.
  • Schedule spring admitted student celebrations at AVA partner schools
  • Coordinate attendance at admitted student celebrations with AVA staff
  • Represent UVA at junior nights, college fairs, and other school-based and regional events.
Counselor Engagement & Relationship Building
  • Proactively reach out to AVA school counselors before key admission and financial aid deadlines.
  • Host virtual office hours to provide information and answer questions.
  • Schedule regular in-person visits with AVA counselors to strengthen partnerships
Application Support and Evaluation
  • Assist students and families in completing admission and financial aid applications during Virginia College Application Week (VCAW) and other school events.
  • Review applications from AVA schools as part of the admission process.
Coordination with UVA Partners
  • Communicate and collaborate with multiple UVA partners, including academic schools, student affairs, enrollment, and other entities to facilitate meaningful engagement with AVA-served students
  • Collaborate with the Commonwealth Partnerships Coordinator to ensure personalized student communication, a positive visit experience, and timely follow-up.
Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree and two years of relevant experience.Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrate superior organizational and communications skills
  • Possess a passion for increasing access to higher education
  • Collaborate effectively with a variety of stakeholders
  • Previous experience in K-12 or higher education environments.
About the PositionThis hybrid position is located in Charlottesville, Virginia and requires in-office presence. This is a full-time, non-exempt level, benefited position with UVa benefits operating during regular business hours. Employee benefits package highlights include:

The anticipated salary range is $50,000 - $55,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience. This is a restricted position with a one year term. This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers.
