The Phyllis J. Washington College of Education at the University of Montana invites applications for a 0.75 to 1.0 FTE Clinical Faculty position in the Center for the Advancement of Positive Education (CAPE). The successful candidate will have a background in School Counseling and be responsible for curriculum development, teaching, outcomes assessment, and liaison duties within the PJWCOE and across disciplines at the University of Montana.
As a senior member of the CAPE team, the successful candidate will work collaboratively with the CAPE director and all members of the CAPE team and the Phyllis J. Washington College of Education to fulfill CAPE's mission, vision, values, and principles.
Given the wide range of faculty expertise at the University of Montana and academic inquiry undertaken at the University of Montana, successful applicants will have knowledge of and experience with different academic disciplines and a strong sense of how to work collaboratively to achieve greater outcomes. Successful applicants for the Clinical Faculty position should have experience in how to secure revenue through grants and develop revenue streams to support CAPE and ensure CAPE sustainability. Successful applicants will have experience and expertise needed to deepen and broaden CAPE's collaborations with local, regional, and national partners in positive education
Examples of Duties and Responsibilities
- Articulate and promote the mission, vision, and values of the Center for the Advancement of Positive Education.
- Develop curriculum modules, courses, and group counseling that include positive psychology and positive education content.
- Teach university courses, workshops, and provide community presentations that promote positive education across disciplines.
- Evaluate courses, teaching, and workshops in order to modify teaching practices and improve pedagogical and andragogical and practice.
- Embrace collaborative communication and collaborative values.
- Participate in developing strategic initiatives to integrate evidence-based happiness practices and principles into University of Montana course curricula, student knowledge, and Montana schools.
- Initiate, support, and monitor revenue generation projects to facilitate CAPE sustainability, including grant proposals, fee for service projects, and other fundraising efforts.
- Network within Montana schools and community agencies to increase positive education awareness, knowledge, and skills in Montana and beyond.
- Contribute to annual academic and community conferences designed to provide education consistent with CAPE's mission, vision, and values.
- Demonstrate evidence of strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications
- Advanced graduate degree (Ed.S., Ed.D., or Ph.D.) with an emphasis in School Counseling from an accredited institution of higher education.
- Knowledge and practice experiences related to school counseling.
- Evidence of interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
- Experience with curriculum development, teaching, facilitating workshops, and professional presentations, in an academic or academic-like setting.
- Experience collecting data, conducting research, and evaluating teacher/course/workshop outcomes.
- Ability to receive and act on constructive feedback.
- Experience with grant-writing, fundraising, and/or fee-for-service revenue generation.
- Experience communicating with large educational networks.
- Knowledge of and experience with the application of positive psychology or positive education principles in education, academic, or clinical settings.
- Knowledge and experience presenting and publishing content related to positive psychology and positive education.
- Direct experience working successfully as a senior team member in an academic or public school setting.
- Successful experience generating and monitoring grant-funded projects.
Position is full-time (1.0 FTE) or part time (0.75), Letter of Appointment and includes a comprehensive and competitive benefits package including insurance package, mandatory retirement plan, partial tuition waiver, and wellness program.
