About the Role

Spyglass Healthcare is seeking a compassionate and dedicated CADC-Certified Substance Use Disorder Recovery Counselor to join our specialized inpatient program serving aging adults with complex behavioral and medical needs. Our Sacramento facility is part of a larger Neurobehavioral Program focused on rehabilitation, trauma-informed care, and community reintegration for individuals with severe mental illness, neurocognitive disorders, and co-occurring SUD diagnoses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver individual and group therapy sessions that promote sobriety, emotional regulation, and personal growth.
  • Engage clients in evidence-based interventions, including Seeking Safety, within a secure and supportive clinical setting.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team (IDT) meetings to develop and review individualized care plans.
  • Complete Level of Care Assessments and contribute to comprehensive treatment planning.
  • Maintain clear and timely documentation in our electronic health record system (PCC).
  • Provide discharge planning and aftercare coordination, ensuring smooth transitions to the next level of care.
  • Uphold trauma-informed principles and support a structured, safe, and therapeutic environment.
  • Offer clinical insight and support in utilization review and case conferencing.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and crisis response protocols as needed.
  • Assist with the development of SUD-specific curriculum and continuous quality improvement.

Qualifications

Required:

  • CADC Certification (or equivalent certification per DHCS standards).
  • Experience with severe mental illness, co-occurring disorders, and/or aging populations.
  • Ability to connect with clients across diverse cognitive abilities, including those with dementia or Alzheimer's disease.
  • Strong documentation, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Commitment to ethical practice and confidentiality standards.

Education Requirements (One of the following):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field with CADC, or eligibility to obtain.
  • Associate’s Degree in a related field with CAAC, or eligibility to obtain.
  • High School Diploma with CAAC

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience working in secure inpatient or residential treatment setting.
  • Bilingual or bicultural competence is a plus.
  • Familiarity with PCC and Level of Care Assessment tools.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $26.00 - $31.00 per hour
