Summary Description
Under general supervision, implements the Head Start Family and Community Partnership Performance Standard (1304.40). Supervises and provides leadership to a team of Head Start family service workers. Monitors the Family Partnership Agreement process to ensure implementation of appropriate interventions in support of family goals. Supervises the recruitment and registration efforts of FSW teams. Reviews family service workers^ work schedules. Serves as a team member on an interdisciplinary team of professionals; participates in and facilitates case conferences to promote service integration. Promotes community agency partnerships that assist families in achieving self-sufficiency. Applies a culturally competent and flexible approach when working with parents and staff of different cultures. Makes decisions and acts based on family support principles and code of ethics. Job Specific Information
This position has unique hours (1-9 p.m). The social worker will serve to support the social emotional needs of students in the CREA+ program. Career Readiness Education Academy (CREA) is an academic and career readiness education program for older English learners in MCPS. Students in CREA are provided with opportunities to prepare for the GED exam, learn valuable work skills, and earn industry certifications. Students are referred to CREA if they are at least 18 years old and unlikely to meet all graduation requirements prior to turning 21 and if they are interested in pursuing an alternative pathway to a high school diploma via GED preparation. Bilingual candidates preferred. The wage range for this position is a salary between $64,591 and $131,472 based on education and experience. Knowledge Skills Abilities
Working knowledge of the Federal Head Start Performance Standards, MCPS early childhood programs, low-income and culturally diverse populations. Knowledge of the principles and methods of social work and their application in providing preventive and rehabilitative services. Ability to provide leadership to a diverse social service staff. Ability to carry out the goals and objectives of the program. Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with MCPS, community agencies, staff and parents. Effective supervisory and team leadership skills. Excellent written and oral communication and computer skills, good human relations skills.
Education Training Experience
Master^s degree in social work or related field from an accredited college or university. Considerable experience in coordination, supervision, and program implementation.Certificate License:A valid license issued by the Maryland State Board of Social Work Examiners.
