Job Title: Addiction Counselor
Department: Inpatient Chemical Dependency
Location: 1565 Long Pond Rd, Rochester, NY 14626
Hours Per Week: 40
Schedule: Sunday - Thursday, 8:00AM-4:30PM, with one evening shift 12:30PM-9:00PM.
Sign-On Bonus: Up to $10,000
SUMMARY:
The Addiction Counselor plays a vital role in providing comprehensive assessments, personalized treatment planning, and effective counseling for individuals facing chemical dependency challenges. Working in acute and residential settings, you will help manage patient communities, offering support in a collaborative clinical team environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Act as the primary counselor, delivering Substance Use Disorder treatments through individual and group sessions.
- Oversee and manage the patient community to ensure a supportive environment.
- Facilitate care management and discharge planning, including referrals for housing and continuing care.
- Ensure timely completion of progress updates and all necessary patient documentation.
- Submit insurance authorization requests and handle denial appeals promptly.
- Conduct quality audits of patient records and care processes.
- Perform initial and ongoing assessments to determine client diagnoses and care needs.
- Provide engaging individual, family, and group counseling throughout treatment.
- Develop individualized and culturally sensitive treatment plans tailored to each client's needs.
- Collaborate with other care providers and referral sources to enhance understanding of client challenges and strengths.
- Participate in professional supervision and educational activities aimed at improving client care.
- Maintain accurate medical record documentation in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Contribute as a vital member of an interdisciplinary team to coordinate and deliver patient care effectively.
- Provide crisis intervention and management as necessary.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Required Certification/Licensure: CASAC, OASAS QHP, or CASAC-T (conditional full certification within 24 months) or OASAS QHP (LCSW, LMSW, LMHC, LCAT, LMFT) with a Master’s degree.
- Required Years of Experience: Completion of a clinical internship in chemical dependency or at least 1 year of experience in a chemical dependency or mental health program.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associates, Bachelor's, or Master’s Degree in a Human Services field.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The role involves sedentary work, requiring up to 10 pounds of force occasionally. Most tasks involve sitting, with occasional walking or standing.
PAY RANGE: $27.25 - $36.00
