Job Title: Psychotherapist/ School Counselor Consultant

Location: Lukin Center , Montclair, NJ Job Type: Part-Time/Full-Time, Contract

Overview:

Lukin Center is seeking a qualified and compassionate School Counselor Consultant to provide consultative mental health and academic support services to K–12 students through partnerships with local schools. The consultant will work as an independent provider affiliated with our private practice, delivering on-site or virtual services such as individual counseling, group counseling, staff consultation, and parent support.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, and support staff to assess student mental health and behavioral needs.

• Provide individual and group counseling services to students dealing with academic, emotional, or social challenges.

• Offer consultation to school staff on issues related to classroom behavior, learning difficulties, or crisis intervention.

• Conduct mental health screenings, needs assessments, and contribute to individualized education or support plans when appropriate.

• Facilitate workshops or informational sessions for parents and school staff on relevant mental health topics.

• Maintain accurate documentation of sessions, referrals, and interventions in accordance with legal and ethical guidelines.

• Communicate regularly with the private practice team and participate in supervision or case review meetings.

• Stay current with best practices in school counseling, child development, and educational support services.

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in School Counseling, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, or a related field.

• Current licensure (e.g., LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or equivalent) in the state of [State].

• Experience working in or with K–12 school environments.

• Strong understanding of child and adolescent development, learning styles, and behavioral interventions.

• Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

• Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.

• Flexibility to travel to partner schools or provide telehealth services as needed.

Preferred:

• Background in trauma-informed care or crisis response.

• Experience with special education or IEP processes.

• Bilingual abilities.

Compensation:

Competitive hourly or per-session rate, based on experience and licensure. Flexible scheduling options available.
