This Position is for Psychology Instructor at Harrison County with a public university located in Gulfport, MS.
Job Description: Responsible for the teaching of assigned psychology and educational psychology courses at assigned sites as well as the other duties and responsibilities inherent in this position. Reports to the chairperson of the School of Human Sciences and Education at the Harrison County Campus.
Job Duties
Teach assigned subject matter with professionalism and uphold college values. Attend classes according to the schedule. Attend faculty/departmental meetings as requested. Follow exam schedules unless otherwise approved. Provide access to students for advising, conferences, and tutorial help. Advise students as needed. Maintain accurate student records and submit reports timely. Use instructional support services (e.g., Learning Resources Centers). Conduct course evaluations per college procedures. Ensure instructional consistency with college and departmental standards. Contribute to college goals, course objectives, and student achievement. Act as a public representative for the community college. Supervise or participate in extracurricular activities as assigned. Evaluate student progress adequately. Participate in college governance councils as assigned. Serve on academic/instructional committees as assigned. Carry out other duties as assigned by the department or administration. Teach psychology and educational psychology courses in person, online, and in hybrid formats.Provide student-focused learning experiences. Support continuous student development through formal and summative assessments.
Mandatory Qualifications
(M1) Master's degree in psychology or a closely related field or a master's degree with at least (18) graduate semester hours in psychology from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning. (M2)Prior teaching experience. (M3) Strong written and interpersonal communication skills. (M4) Demonstrated ability to use digital tools, including word processing, presentation software, and web-based applications.
Desirable Qualifications
(D1) Two or more years of experience teaching psychology. (D2) Community college teaching experience. (D3) Experience with student advisement in a college setting. (D4) Experience with a learning management system (LMS).
