Job Summary:

The Music Therapist (MuT) is compassionate and creative, providing music therapy to address physical, emotional, cognitive and social needs of the patients. This position offers the opportunity to work with a diverse range of clients in a supportive environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides music therapy services to patients according to a written individualized plan of care. This is including, but not limited to:

o Assessing and evaluation therapeutic status and participation in the development of the total plan of care.

o Evaluates the home environment.

o Directing music therapy treatment through live music at the bedside with instruments and other music therapy materials.

o Determining priority needs for music therapy.

o Reporting to the physician and the team the patient’s reaction to treatment or changes in condition.

  • Lead individual and group music therapy sessions tailored to patients’ needs and abilities.
  • Document patient progress and session outcomes in accordance with facility and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, nurses, social workers, and other therapists.
  • Maintain instruments and music therapy materials.
  • Participates in the interdisciplinary group and group meetings.
  • Provide education to staff, patients, families and communities within our market about the benefits of music therapy as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in music therapy from an accredited program.
  • Certification by the Certification Board for Music Therapists (MT-BC) required.
  • CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Previous clinical experience in healthcare/hospice settings preferred.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Understanding of the hospice philosophy, focus of care is comfort vs rehabilitation.

Pay Rates: $25 to $30 an hour, depending on relevant experience in healthcare field
