Horizon Behavioral Health is now hiring for a Board Certified General Psychiatrist:
The U.S. Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance recently awarded Horizon Behavioral Health $550,000 over three years to support operations at the future Crisis Receiving Center (CRC) in Lynchburg, Virginia, and expand collaboration with the Lynchburg Police Department (LPD). The funds will embed Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) trained LPD officers within the center, alongside Horizon Clinicians and Peer Recovery Specialists, to provide a coordinated response to individuals experiencing behavioral health crisis.
The center will be equipped to accommodate walk-in mental health evaluations, 23-hour observation, residential crisis stabilization, and detox services. This continuum of care will support timely placement in treatment services, keeping clients closer to their support networks, and offering more options for immediate treatment. All shown to improve long-term recovery and health outcomes of individuals served.
Position Summary
The CRCS Psychiatric/Medical Services manager will provide oversight to other providers and nursing staff along with direct patient care.
Required Education and Experience
- Board Certified General Psychiatrist
- Experience providing services to clients in crisis
- A minimum of 2 years previous supervisory.
Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of community mental health and public health in order to provide advocacy and enhance an individual’s treatment and access to community resources; knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services, to include customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction; knowledge of the principles, procedures, techniques, trends, and literature related to mental health, intellectual disabilities and substance abuse; knowledge of psychiatric/medical medications/treatments; knowledge of database systems and software, as well as, the best practices for effective utilization;
Ability to respond effectively to changes in the work environment in a positive and professional manner; ability to drive and must possess a valid driver’s license. May be called upon to travel to any Horizon worksite; transport clients, provide services to clients at other locations. Regular attendance at trainings and Horizon meetings may require travel to a variety of Horizon sites; ability to participate in and successfully pass behavioral intervention training; includes both verbal de-escalation skills and physical skills techniques to be utilized with consumers as needed.
