Summary/Objective
Under the supervision of a licensed psychologist, the Psychology Assistant follows all Ohio Psychology Board laws and regulations governing the practice of psychology. Conducts psychological evaluations, prepares evaluation reports, progress and treatment reports. Provides parent/family training, consultation and/or psychological therapy as appropriate.



Essential Functions/Job Duties

  • Interviews and observes clients, staff and families.
  • Assists with the conduct of psychological evaluations using various assessment methods and instruments; completes timely reports.
  • Provides individual staff consultation regarding psychological aspects of programming.
  • Assists in the development, implementation and evaluation of behavior management programs.
  • Appropriately administers psychological tests or procedures (observational, problem-solving, achievement, personality, intellectual adaptive behavior, structural and/or functional behavior analysis).
  • Assimilates essential information from client records.
  • Prepares timely, concise and meaningful evaluation reports, progress notes and treatment reports for a variety of audiences.
  • Observes and analyzes psychosocial and environmental factors relative to referred clients.
  • Participates as a member of service teams regarding enrollee service plan, development, monitoring, and review.
  • Provides parent/family training, consultation and/or counseling as appropriate.
  • Provides assistance in the development and implementation of in-service training for staff and others.
  • Engages in professional development activities including individual clinical supervision if not licensed to develop and/or enhance professional skills and knowledge in order to comply with all laws, rules and regulations governing the practice of psychology.
  • Assists in the provision of individual and/or group psychological interventions for appropriate enrollees.
  • Problem solves and works cooperatively in group meetings in order to reach consensus regarding habilitation goals and needs.
  • Assists in the preparation of treatment plans, selection of appropriate treatment approaches and analysis of treatment progress.
  • Maintains adequate knowledge base regarding subject matter and/or client.
  • Actively participates in clinical supervision process by providing timely client data, weekly contact with supervisor face-to-face and contacting supervisor when crisis situations arise.
  • Conducts formal presentations to groups; uses audio visual equipment, program evaluation and formal/informal needs assessment.
  • Displays adequate knowledge of agency objectives and views on various programming issues.
  • Maintains current knowledge of agency policies and procedures; follows Rules and Laws of the Ohio State Board of Psychology.
  • Actively participates in clinical supervision process by providing timely client data, weekly contact with supervisor face-to-face and contacting supervisor when crisis situations arise.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Master’s degree in psychology
  • Experience with persons with developmental disabilities preferred.

  • Demonstrates excellent judgement and interpersonal skills.
  • Communicates in ways that develop rapport with clients, parents, and staff members.
  • Develops skills and knowledge; maintains adequate professional database.

Eligibility Qualifications
Required Licensure and Certifications

  • Possess and maintain a valid State of Ohio Driver’s License; meet and maintain insurability standards to drive for company business.
  • Must submit to and pass applicable background checks and drug screen.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work/Travel
This is a full-time position. Days of work are typically Monday through Friday. Maintains reasonable
flexibility and modifies schedule as needed. Travel is primarily local during the business day.
