St. Johnsbury School District is seeking a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. The St. Johnsbury School District (STJSD) serves more than 1,000 students, Pre-K through 8th grade and tuition our high school students to several area public and independent high schools. St. Johnsbury School District has approximately 600 students in Prek to Grade 8 and approximately 200 full-time employees all in one school. We have an excellent outdoor educational space, new playgrounds and a dedicated team with an emphasis on employee wellness. We are located 4 minutes from I-91 at Exit 21.

General Responsibilities:


The BCBA works collaboratively with, and in support of, behavior specialists, special educators, classroom teachers, parents, and community agencies to develop plans to ensure that the behavioral needs are met for a diverse student population. The BCBA is a District Level employee that follows the calendar for teachers for a total of 186 days. Benefits align with the Teacher Master Agreement.


Specific Duties:

  • Works collaboratively with school administration to implement behavior systems.
  • Facilitates weekly behavior team meetings at the upper and lower school.
  • Provides consultation and direct service as a BCBA, in coordination with student IEPs, to develop appropriate behavioral systems for individual students in grades PK-8 through referrals made by teams and/or an Administrator.
  • Supports the implementation of behavioral plans through modeling and training of staff.
  • Provides consultation to teams to help develop behavior plans for students referred through Behavior Specialists or through the IEP process. This may include observation, assessments, and developing a format for plan development.
  • Performs functional behavior assessments (FBAs). This will include performing assessment and training of staff to perform assessments, modeling implementation, and providing tools that support assessments.
  • Works collaboratively with Behavior Support Staff (Behavior specialists, Learning Space staff, and Student Support Center paraeducators) in conjunction with Assistant Principals.
  • Collects and analyzes data to inform behavior support plans.

Responsibilities:

  • Reports to Director of Student Support Services and/or Principal
  • Adheres to appropriate confidentiality policies


Salary is based on years of experience and educational level. STAFF get vested in the Vermont Muncipal Employee's Retirement System Pension after 5 years of service. This position is 186 days each school year. This position will receive 15 sick days, 4 emergency days, 5 personal days, 5 bereavement days. BCBS of Vermont is the health insurance. The employer pays the first $2200 for single coverage or $4400 for multi-person plan of the out of pocket costs plus 100% of prescription costs. Employer pays for single dental coverage, employee's life insurance and employee's long term disability insurance.
