Pay Rate: $54,000 Annually

Job Summary: A successful MBAC Business Counselor must be highly motivated with the skill set to support small business owners in every stage of business. To succeed in this role, it requires dedication with strong communication skills and experience with providing direct, in-depth client consulting and coaching, business research and assistance in preparing business and strategic plans. The right candidate will be able to identify suggestions for alternative courses of action for the business owner while maintaining the confidentiality of client information. This candidate will be diligent about monitoring and capturing the outcomes and successes of the program.

The MBAC Business Counselor responsibilities include interviewing and assessing MBAC and MCCAP clients’ needs and developing an action plan. Majority of time will be devoted to in-depth coaching with clients. This position provides services to the public in order to engage the community in programming, training, workshops and conferences within the program. The Business Counselor will assist in the planning, marketing and reporting of training sessions and conferences.

Job Duties: Responsibilities include:

· Recruiting participants to utilize program services and participate in trainings and events

· Increase number of participants utilizing state products (i.e. Loans & bonding assistance)

· Assisting in the planning and marketing of training sessions & conferences; Coordinate training and programming with other partners in ecosystem

· Community involvement including public speaking as needed or directed

· Increase number of participants obtaining state certifications

· Capture participants ongoing increase in business revenues

· Tracking number of jobs created and retained by businesses

· Tracking participants procurement opportunities/contracts

· Communicate success stories of program participants

· Monitor budget activities

· Organize activities for coaching participants; Prepare final action plans for program participants

· Capture all data relating to participating firms

· Prepare report content for the programs’ status

· Identify and communicate ongoing success stories

· Work closely with entire team to support client needs

· Provide feedback on best practices within the programs

· Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations for program

· Support the procurement pipeline and procurement opportunities

· Help to recruit contractors to participate in program or other services

· Maintain relations with participants, partners or partner organizations

· Inform management to resolve issues to keep program running smoothly

Qualifications: BS/BA in Business or similar field of study; Possess a valid Ohio Driver’s License and the ability to travel

Position Requirement:

· Must obtain GrowthWheel Business Advisor Certification. No Fee involved.

· May have to obtain Certified Business Advisor (CBA) Certification. No Fee involved.

Competencies: Strong organizational and time management skills; Proven experience as a counselor, coach or business owner; High level of interpersonal, analytical and communication skills; Knowledge on using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.); Ability to handle multiple assignments and establish work priorities with minimal supervision
