About Job

Looking to fill one position, part-time, weekends/some weekdays.

If you're a passionate, patient, caring, kind-hearted and energetic dog lover, then being a Staff Counselor here at Camp American Canine might be right for you. It's tremendously rewarding of course, and also about hard work and hustle, cleaning, scooping poop, cleaning, taking initiative, being organized, attentive to detail, and CLEANING.

The suitable applicant will be an independent self starter and a team player who possess a strong work ethic, has solid communication skills, a positive/upbeat "can do" attitude, and of course, a PASSION for dogs and their well-being. This job is more than simply playing with puppies. This is both a cerebral and physical position that requires the ability to "Alpha" lead a large, dynamic group of dogs, supervising inter-dog play while recognizing and managing behaviors and interactions (individually and within groups). Camp Counselors will handle all varieties of dogs (size, breed, temperament, etc.), caring for their every need (feeding and medicating them, cleaning up after them, etc.). You must be physically fit and able to work on your feet, be outdoors in all types of great NE weather, as well as be willing and able to clean, clean, clean, and keep the facility organized, top to bottom, all day, every day.

You should have experience (animal care: kennel work, dog daycare or farm/barn/zoo work is specifically required). The ideal candidate will be a reliable and responsible, dedicated animal lover who is attentive to detail, enthusiastic, able to multi-task, work independently/be self-motivated and one who will be an "anchor" that will organize, prioritize and "own" everything that needs doing. Our Camp mantra is: "Know the job, do the job!"

Currently we are looking for part-time/full-time help, with availability Monday-Friday and/or weekends, some evenings(7pm-8pm), as well as holidays.

Necessary Requirements:

  • Experienced, understanding, loving and patient with animals/dogs
  • Must be reliable, responsible, accountable and attentive to detail
  • Must be a positive, energetic and enthusiastic team player that can take initiative, work independently, lead and also follow direction

  • Must be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions (cold, rain, snow, heat, etc.)
  • Must hustle and be driven and diligent – this can be a fast-paced job
  • Must have flexibility/availability to work weekdays, weekends, holidays and some evenings
  • Must be willing to clean, clean, and CLEAN
  • Ideal candidate will reside within 25 miles
  • Customer Service and office skills are a plus

To apply, please submit a resume, cover letter, references, and/or any pertinent information regarding your experience and qualifications.
