One Small Step (OSS) is a fully remote telehealth platform dedicated to delivering high-quality, compassionate peer support services to adults experiencing mental health and/or substance use challenges. We operate via our secure, proprietary app, providing support through phone, messaging, and video conferencing. Our mission is to empower recovery through lived experience, empathy, and connection—meeting individuals where they are, anytime, anywhere.Position SummaryCertified Peer Support Workers (PSW) at One Small Step serve as trusted guides and supporters for individuals navigating recovery from mental health conditions, substance use disorders (SUD), or both. Drawing from their own lived experience, PSWs offer encouragement, hope, and advocacy, while fostering client engagement and empowerment in a virtual environment.The OSS PSW provides non-clinical, person-centered support that complements substance use and behavioral health services. This role is fully remote and requires strong communication skills, self-motivation, and adherence to ethical and regulatory standards.Key Responsibilities
  • Build trusting relationships through shared lived experience to inspire hope and motivation for recovery.
  • Deliver support via OSS’s telehealth platform using messaging, video, and phone-based communication.
  • Collaborate with individuals to develop and achieve self-directed recovery goals.
  • Assist clients in identifying and accessing community-based resources, such as housing, employment, education, or support groups.
  • Promote self-advocacy and empowerment through strength-based conversations.
  • Maintain appropriate boundaries and uphold OSS standards of ethical peer support.
  • Document all interactions accurately, thoroughly, and timely in the OSS system.
  • Participate in regular supervision, team meetings, and ongoing training sessions.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and all regulatory guidelines.
  • Recognize and report safety concerns or crisis situations in accordance with OSS protocols.
  • Uphold compliance with the standards set forth by ADHS, AHCCCS, and any relevant contractual requirements.
RequirementsMinimum Qualifications
  • Must be a Certified Peer Support Worker (PSW) with a certification recognized by the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS).
  • Lived experience with recovery from a mental health condition, substance use disorder, or co-occurring conditions, and at least one year of demonstrated recovery.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must reside in the United States and have legal authorization to work.
  • Reliable access to a private, quiet workspace with high-speed internet and a secure device (smartphone, tablet, or computer).
  • Proficient in using telehealth platforms, digital tools, and basic documentation systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience providing peer support services in behavioral health or healthcare settings.
  • Bilingual or multilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed care and cultural competency.
  • Experience working with marginalized or underserved communities.
