Job Summary
The Mental Health Technician plays a vital role in supporting individuals with mental health challenges by providing compassionate care and assistance in their daily activities. This position involves working closely with patients to promote their well-being, facilitate therapeutic interventions, and ensure a safe and supportive environment. The Mental Health Technician will collaborate with healthcare professionals to implement treatment plans and monitor patient progress.

Responsibilities

  • MUST BE FULLY LICENSED TO PROVIDE MENTAL HEALTH AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE COUNSELING.
  • Monitor patient behavior and report any changes or concerns to the healthcare team.
  • Facilitate group therapy sessions and engage patients in therapeutic activities.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation of patient interactions and progress.
  • Implement treatment plans as directed by licensed mental health professionals.
  • Utilize cognitive behavioral therapy techniques to assist patients in coping with their conditions.
  • Conduct motivational interviewing to encourage positive behavioral changes among patients.
  • Work collaboratively with families to provide child family counseling when appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance with ICD-9 coding standards for documentation purposes.

Skills

  • Proficiency in case management and understanding of mental health treatment protocols.
  • Strong knowledge of group therapy techniques and their application in various settings.
  • Familiarity with cognitive behavioral therapy principles and practices.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality while managing sensitive medical records.
