About The Role
PsychPlus is seeking a qualified and dedicated Licensed Psychologist to provide comprehensive on-site psychological screening, counseling, and critical support services for the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department and the Metropolitan Detention Center. This role is instrumental in maintaining the psychological health and readiness of sworn personnel and civilian staff through proactive intervention, evaluation, and consultation.
Responsibilities
- Conduct pre-employment psychological evaluations for all sworn applicants.
- Provide counseling and support services to employees.
- Deliver on-call crisis intervention and emergency psychological support for critical incidents.
- Teach Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) classes and contribute to ongoing mental health education.
- Serve as a consultant on sex offender management and fit-for-duty evaluations.
- Support the Peer Support Program, including coordination and supervision of Peer Support Team activities.
- Offer administrative consultation and support to leadership regarding mental health-related matters.
Requirements
- Doctorate (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in Clinical, Counseling, or Forensic Psychology
- Licensed Psychologist in the State of New Mexico
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience, working specifically with law enforcement
- Strong familiarity with law enforcement culture, operations, and the psychological demands of the field.
- Experience with psychological testing, crisis response, and public safety personnel support.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Previous experience conducting evaluations for municipal or state police departments is preferred

Additional Information
The expected base pay for this role will be between $150-$350 per hour at the commencement of employment(based on experience and qualifications).
