- Must have a valid Michigan Administrative Certification.
- Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development preferred.
- Michigan elementary certificate with a minimum of five (5) years of experience preferred.
- Previous program or building leadership experience preferred.
- Experience with GSRP programming and state/federal grant processes and procedures.
- Familiarity and experience with the State of Michigan DHHS (LARA) Licensing.
- Knowledge preschool curriculum and evidence based best and emerging practices in Early Childhood education.
- Skill in fostering strong parent-school partnerships.
- Excellent communication, group leadership, and team management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and function independently.
- Must be able to work flexible hours to accommodate the needs of the community.
- Demonstrates qualities of professional leadership among teachers, parents and students.
- Administers early childhood programs meeting all LARA requirements and safety standards.
- Demonstrates extensive knowledge of child development and Early Childhood Curriculum
- Leads, monitors and supports curriculum implementation, including best instructional practices.
- Leads development, supervision, and evaluation of instruction and staff development
- Coordinates preventative safety across all program areas and facilities.
- Provides staff meetings and trainings according to licensing regulations
- Recruits, trains, and supervises GSRP personnel, making employment recommendations
- Prepares and administers early childhood budgets (GSRP programs)
- Recommends qualified candidates and provides orientation for new staff
- Promotes staff initiative, innovation, and self-improvement
- Proactively addresses behavior matters in preschool classrooms and programming
- Balances office/financial management with instructional leadership
- Prepares and updates program schedules and operational rules
- Strengthens community relationships and communication with staff and parents
- Assist with planning district family and community activities, such as Kindergarten Round-up and open houses
- Provide positive communication between staff, students and parents, and the community
- Acts as liaison for parent concerns and special requests
- Maintains District-owned equipment and develops preventative maintenance plans
- Authorizes purchases within budgetary limitations and District rules
- Leads preschool marketing efforts for current and future enrollment
- Participates in Early Childhood leadership networks at county and state levels
- Advocates for Early Childhood education and future focused programming
- Collaborates with other Flat Rock Community Schools program staff
- Serves on committees supporting district initiatives
- Oversee daily building operations.
- Ensures building safety and security protocols are followed.
- Participate in district leadership meetings and contribute to system-wide initiatives.
- Monitors district-wide attendance data to identify trends and areas of concern.
- Develop and implement attendance intervention plans in collaboration with school staff and families, such as Ram Connect.
- Coordinate with families to address barriers to regular attendance, such as transportation, housing instability, or health issues.
- Communicate regularly with school administrators, counselors, and attendance teams.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
