Job Overview:

We are currently seeking a dedicated and safety-conscious Water Technician to join our field services team in Asheville, NC. This role involves hands-on work with public utility assets, specifically fire hydrants and water main valves, and requires a high level of attention to detail, responsibility, and field discipline. Ideal candidates are reliable, self-motivated, and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.


Primary Responsibilities:


  • Accurately collect GPS coordinates for all assigned assets
  • Safely operate, maintain, and clean all tools and equipment
  • Record precise data from inspection points using mobile apps
  • Maintain consistent productivity and field discipline throughout the workday
  • Achieve and maintain a driving score of A-90 or higher based on our driver performance system
  • Properly use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow daily work zone safety protocols
  • Paint, scrape, and clean fire hydrants to meet project and appearance standards
  • Perform repairs on fire hydrants and water main valve operating nuts
  • Maintain open and effective daily communication with support staff and field managers

Job Qualifications and Skills:

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record, Candidate must be willing to travel within an hour of Asheville, NC
  • Able to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening (required)
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain a valid DOT Medical Certification (as required by project)
  • Physically capable of field work: walking varied terrain, confined space entry, bending/squatting, and lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Comfortable working in all weather conditions and physically demanding environments
  • Willing to travel as needed for projects, including weekends and occasional night shifts
  • Proficient with mobile devices and field data collection apps
  • Able to make safety-conscious decisions affecting public and crew welfare
  • Capable of operating a 4x4 2500 series truck in off-road/challenging terrain
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and committed to high ethical standards
