SCHOOL ADJUSTMENT COUNSELOR ELEMENTARY


The purpose of this position is to have an individual who can provide social work counseling services for students.

Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience:

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work.
  • Licensure from the Massachusetts Department of Education as a School Social Worker.
  • Demonstrated subject matter competence, highly qualified, in the area of licensure.

Knowledge Required:

  • Currency in counseling techniques.
  • Effective organization of caseload assignments..
  • Effective diagnostic skills..
  • Effective instruction in a standards-based classroom.
  • Promotion of equity and appreciation of diversity.
  • Effective use of technology.
  • Fulfillment of professional responsibilities.

Abilities Required:

  • Ability to deliver effective counseling to individuals and small groups.
  • Ability to differentiate counseling to meet student needs.
  • Ability to administer required student assessments.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with students, parents, colleagues and administrators.

Skills Required:

  • Effective caseload management skills.
  • Excellent listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.
