Job Description
The worker in this position maintains an ongoing caseload of up to130 families receiving subsidized childcare assistance. The worker will complete all initial applications and a recertification for current cases which entail interviewing the client, assessing the family’s need, establishing a care plan to fit the need of the family, and determining parental fees if applicable. A review of clients’ eligibility is completed when a change is reported or during the annual recertification. The worker in this position also is responsible for assessing clients in emergency situations who are seeking assistance with water bills, electric bills, heat, medicine, rent, food, clothing, etc. Primary duties involve interviewing clients regarding their emergency needs gathering household information to determine eligibility ensuring payments are authorized to the appropriate vendor and coordinating with other community agencies for additional assistance when the family’s need exceeds the program payment limit. This position may assess up to 20 clients per daily through Emergency Intake.
Key Responsibilities and Related Competencies:
Employees independently perform assessments to identify needs and establish an appropriate service/treatment plan and may provide supportive/ directive counseling to clients and families in addressing needs. In some settings behavioral approaches are used to maximize client involvement.
Employees may serve as inter/multi-disciplinary team member.
Employees may refer clients and families to a variety of services to meet financial; psychological; emergency care; emotional; or other needs.
Employees may assume a case manager role to follow the client through agency and external services.
Employees utilize agency guidelines; specific federal or state standards; and principles of a variety of supportive counseling techniques to provide services to clients.
Education/Experience
Education/Experience Required: Bachelor’s degree in social work from an accredited school of social work; Bachelor’s degree in a human services field from an accredited college or university and one year directly related experience; Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and two years directly related experience. NC FAST experience preferred.
