Are you a skilled risk management professional seeking a dynamic career as a Risk Manager working for one of the fastest growing ports on the West Coast? The Port of Stockton has an exciting opportunity for a Risk Manager who will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and managing a comprehensive risk management program. This position serves as a management/professional-level resource for organizational, managerial, and operational activities. Incumbent will be experienced and knowledgeable in department leadership, claims management, property & liability insurance, contractual insurance requirements, risk mitigation, workplace safety, emergency management, & policy development. Successful incumbent must be able to build and foster collaborative relationships with stakeholders to successfully identify and minimize risk and losses.
Ideal Candidate:
Plans, develops, and administers a comprehensive and collaborative risk management and loss control program.
Designs and implements risk management transfer and mitigation measures, best practices, tools, and techniques to align with business needs and priorities.
Enhances and manages a comprehensive occupational safety program.
Coordinates the growth and administration of the Port’s emergency management and business continuity program in partnership with stakeholders.
- Performs related duties as assigned; this is an at-will position.

Education and Experience:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Education:
- Equivalent to bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in risk management, business administration, or a related field.
Experience:
- Six (6) years of increasingly responsible experience in managing and administering a comprehensive risk management program, including two (2) years of supervisory experience. Experience in public risk management, maritime, shipping, and/or real estate is preferred.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Possession of a valid California Driver’s License, to be maintained throughout employment.
- Obtain a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card by start of employment, to be maintained throughout employment.
- CPR certified preferred. Requirement: Become CPR certified within first six (6) months of employment and maintain such certification.
- Possess and maintain Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Association in Risk Management in public agency (ARM-P) or equivalent certification preferred. Requirement: Obtain and maintain such certification within the first twelve (12) months of employment.
- Certified Safety Professional certification preferred.
