Peer Support Specialist-Male

Position Description: The Peer Support Specialist is responsible for coordinating services for persons served.

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age with good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Have a High School Diploma or GED

Competencies: Successful performance as the Peer Support Specialist requires the following knowledge and skills:

· Ability to establish and maintain effective, supportive and therapeutic relationships with adults dealing with life-controlling addictions

· Ability to apply strategies and interventions related to individual goals as outlined in the person-centered plan.

· Ability to apply negotiation, mediation and advocacy skills on behalf of clients.

· Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

· Ability to exercise sound judgment in analyzing needs and situations and taking appropriate response

· Ability to accurately gather, evaluate, organize and document information about client treatment and service delivery.

· Knowledge of the application of evidenced based/ best practices in service delivery.

· Knowledge of cultural diversity and ability to apply cultural awareness to professional relationships.

· Must have good computer skills, experience with Microsoft Office, electronic forms and email.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Protect the rights of clients including their right to privacy and confidentiality in accordance with Federal HIPAA law, DHHS Client Rights and Confidentiality Policy and LRC policies and procedures.

· Assume responsibility for ensuring the implementation of the Treatment Plan.

· Ensuring that the client and other participants are oriented to the services.

· Promoting the participation of the client on an ongoing basis in discussions of the plan, goals and objectives.

· Identifying and addressing gaps in service provision.

· Providing training and information on how to access community resources, as needed.

· Advocating for the client and family, when appropriate.

· Communicating information about the client’s progress to the appropriate individuals.

· Facilitating the transition process, including arrangements for follow-up services.

· Ensuring the involvement of family members and others, as appropriate.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour
