A Psychiatrist is a licensed medical doctor who specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders. Using a combination of psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, hospitalization, and medication, the Psychiatrist provides comprehensive care tailored to each patient's needs. The role involves close collaboration with psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a holistic approach to mental health.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations and assessments.
- Diagnose mental health conditions based on clinical observations, interviews, and medical history.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
- Prescribe and monitor psychiatric medications.
- Provide psychotherapy and/or refer patients to counseling professionals.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to optimize patient care.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with privacy laws.
- Stay current on developments in psychiatric research and best practices.
- Participate in case conferences, training, and continuing education.
- Support patients and families through mental health education and crisis intervention.
- Medical degree (M.D. or D.O.) from an accredited institution.
- Completed residency in psychiatry.
- Board certification or eligibility in Psychiatry.
- Valid medical license to practice in Kentucky.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with Carelogic or other electronic health records (EHR) preferred.
